Meet the Founder
Rumbidzai Audrey Mudzengi
I’m a makeup artist, mental health educator, co-author of Curiosity Killed the 9–5, and the founder of ANAKA. But beyond the titles, I’m someone who has spent a lifetime learning how to take up space in a world that wasn’t always built with me in mind.
Growing up as a Black woman, beauty often felt like something I had to chase or earn. I didn’t see myself reflected in the pages of magazines or on shelves in stores. I learned to get creative mixing shades, using what I had, and building a sense of beauty that made sense for me. In the absence of representation, I created my own.
That’s what led to ANAKA.
In Shona, Anaka means she is beautiful. It’s a word that has become both a mission and a mirror for me a constant reminder that beauty isn’t something I have to find, fix, or perform. It already exists within me. And within you too.
ANAKA is about more than makeup. It’s about offering products and experiences that speak to those of us who have felt overlooked or outside the lines of conventional beauty. It’s for anyone who’s ever had to search a little harder to find their shade, their style, or their reflection.
I created ANAKA to remind you that your beauty isn’t up for negotiation. It doesn’t need to be filtered, justified, or compared. It just needs to be seen and celebrated.
If you’re looking to collaborate, book a masterclass, or bring something fresh to your community, I’d love to connect. Let’s create magic together!
